IRVINE, CA (October 18, 2009):  Irvine Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 68-year-old woman.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday October 18, 2009 the family of 68-year-old Elaine Williams reported her missing.  Mrs. Williams reportedly went out to run local errands around noon and did not return home.  When Mrs. Williams failed to return home her family became concerned because she is reportedly easily disoriented and occasionally loses her way.  Family members tried to locate Mrs. Williams, but were unsuccessful in doing so.  They then called the police for assistance.

Police have been following-up on all available leads, but have not yet located Mrs. Williams.  They are therefore asking for the public's assistance in locating her.

Elaine Williams is described as a 68-year-old white female with short gray hair and blue eyes.  She is 5'5" tall and 150 pounds.  Her vehicle is a white 2005 Kia Optima, 4-door, with the license plate of 6APB726.  Elaine's home is in the area of Culver and the I-5.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Elaine Williams is asked to contact local law enforcement or the Irvine Police Department at (949) 724-7000.

UPDATE (October 19, 2009):  Mrs. Williams was located earlier this morning in good condition.  She had evidently run out of gas on the freeway in the Los Angeles area and was assisted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who facilitated reuniting her with her family.
