| TRAFFIC COLLISION RESULTS IN HOSPITALIZATION OF 26-YEAR-OLD BICYCLIST

IRVINE, CA (September 20, 2009): Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday September 20, 2009 Irvine police responded to the intersection of Culver and Scottsdale to investigate the report of an injury traffic collision at that location. Upon arrival officers learned that a car and a bicycle had collided, resulting in injury to the bicyclist. The bicyclist was attended to at the scene by emergency medical personnel, and then was transported to an area hospital. The extent of her injuries are not yet known. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the involved vehicle, a Nissan Sentra, was turning from Scottsdale to Culver while the bicycle was crossing the intersection. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined. Police investigators have responded to investigate.
