IRVINE, CA (March 8, 2013): Irvine Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of a 90 year old Irvine man. The collision occurred on Trabuco Road at the intersection with Monroe.
Police Officers and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a report of an injury traffic collision at 6:19 p.m. Officers discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was evaluated by OCFA paramedics and pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver did not suffer any injuries.
Officers conducting the initial assessment determined the pedestrian was walking southbound on Monroe and attempting to cross at the intersection at Trabuco Road. As he crossed, he was struck by the vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Camry, that was travelling eastbound on Trabuco.
Trabuco Road between Culver and Yale will be closed until the investigation is complete late Saturday morning.
