IRVINE, CA (January 17, 2013): Just before 10:00 a.m. this morning, Irvine Police detectives arrested Ian Matthew Ebert (10-6-1986), a 26-year-old resident of Los Gatos for felony lewd conduct with a minor.
On Monday, January 14, 2013, a high school counselor received information about an adult male believed to be involved in an inappropriate relationship with a female student. The counselor immediately notified the Irvine Police Department and the parents of the victim. Detectives began the investigation that afternoon which led to him being located and arrested this morning at his residence in Los Gatos.
The victim, a 15-year-old Irvine resident, had intermittent contact with Ebert through her participation in club soccer. The inappropriate contact occurred between August 2012 and December 2012, while Ebert was a resident of Irvine and working as a coach for a private club.
Ebert is also a prior employee of the Irvine Unified School District where he served as a boys’ varsity soccer coach at two different campuses between 2009 and 2012. At this time, there is no indication Ebert’s contact with the victim is related to his employment at the high schools. The Irvine Police Department continues to work closely with the Irvine Unified School District.
Ebert was arrested for two felony charges and will be booked into the Orange County Jail where will be held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
