IRVINE, CA (October 26, 2012):  Last night, an Irvine resident noticed a computer in her home, provided by her employer, was apparently being controlled remotely. When she checked her computer files, she noticed numerous unauthorized recordings of herself stored on the computer.  The resident came to the Irvine Police Department and an investigation was initiated.

The proactive actions of the resident and the quick response by Irvine Police Officers led to the arrest of Shane Chris Christensen, a 41 year old resident of Capistrano Beach.  Christensen hired the victim to work from her home for a tire business after she responded to a Craig’s List posting and provided her with the computer in question. Christensen is on formal probation for drug charges. In a search of his residence, Officers seized computer equipment and a large quantity of marijuana. Christensen was booked at the Orange County Jail for eavesdropping, videotaping without consent, computer fraud, and possession of marijuana for sale.  He posted $25,000 in bail and was released from custody this morning.

Anyone with more information about this case is encouraged to contact Detective Vicky Hurtado at (949) 724-7194.
