IRVINE, CA (November 19, 2009):  Beginning November 27, 2009 the Irvine Police Department will deploy teams of Police Officers and Public Safety Assistants on foot and bicycle patrols at The Market Place shopping center in Irvine (Jamboree/ I-5).  The holidays traditionally mark the height of the shopping season.  These holiday teams will deploy on weekends through December 27, 2009.  The aim of these deployments is to assist with holiday congestion, to deter and prevent traditional holiday shoplifting and to provide an extra safety component in the busy parking lots.

The Irvine Police Department's Mobile Command vehicle will be displayed in the shopping center and will serve as a base of operations.  It will be open for visitors and questions from the public.

In addition to the holiday patrol teams at The Market Place shopping center, teams of Irvine Police Officers continue to provide safety and security patrols at the Irvine Spectrum Center and neighborhood centers throughout the City of Irvine.
