As part of its ongoing effort to improve traffic flow, the City is widening Sand Canyon from two to four lanes in each direction between Burt Road and the northbound Interstate 5 on and off ramps. As part of the project, the southbound Interstate 5 off ramp and northbound on and off ramps will also be widened and a retaining wall will be constructed to support the freeway bridge.

To minimize impacts on your business and heavy weekday traffic and to ensure the safety of the public, freeway on/off-ramp closures are required to perform K-rail relocation, paving operations, striping, overhead sign installation activities, and guardrail installation between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. during the month of April.

The ramp closure activities have been coordinated with the Great Park calendar of events.

Electronic message boards, detour signs, and traffic control devices will guide traffic around the freeway ramp closures when in effect. (See Detour Map).

Your comments and suggestions are important to us. Please contact Anne Logie at 949-724-7543 if you have questions about the project.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we complete this traffic flow improvement.
