 | Youth Action Team The Middle School Program Youth Action Team (YAT) involves students in initiating, planning, and implementing community service projects as well as a variety of after school activities on their campuses. YAT members host district wide monthly dances, modified day activities, forums, and special events. Members volunteer in four service areas including environment, youth, elderly and disabled, and community. The Youth Action Team meets every Monday and Wednesday on campus at each middle school. YAT programs consist of on-campus student lead activities, involving the general student body in games, contests, and special events. YAT projects are generally off-site community activities. In addition to programs and projects, the YAT is involved in the programming, decorating and implementation of many other programs including dances, fairs, conferences, and more. Participation in the YAT is absolutely free of charge. When do they meet? YAT meets on campus Mondays immediately after-school for approximately an hour. Each Wednesday after school the YAT participants volunteer in off-site service projects that vary from an hour to three depending on the service project. Information sheets will be handed out at Monday meetings to let parents know about the Wednesday project. Not all students will be able to attend the Wednesday project due to van capacity but the coordinators attempt to make sure all students are equally involved in the off-site opportunities. The Site Coordinators transport students in City vans and posess a passenger endorsed license. Students will be transported to and from school for all off-site projects. How to Join? All your child has to do is show up to one of the YAT meetings. Posters, flyers, and announcements will be made on campuse to announce location and times for all YAT meetings. Permission slips will handed out for first time participants and must be filled out by a parent.
