Become one of Irvine's Champions!
CHAMPIONS volunteer program.
CHAMPIONS stands for Community Helpers Assisting Mature Persons In Our Neighborhoods
This program trains volunteers to work in partnership with each other to provide a variety of services to the more isolated seniors in our community. Such services might include friendly visits or telephone calls, shopping, volunteer transportation, social engagements such as lunch, assisting a person in riding a bus for the first time, accompanying the person to the senior center to acquaint them with programs, and any other needs that might arise. We already have several volunteers who provide this kind of invaluable service to the community and we are looking for you to join them.
Qualifications for this unique volunteer opportunity are a commitment to volunteer for at least one year, a desire to assist others, possess a caring non-judgmental approach to others, and a willingness to attend the initial training and follow up monthly meetings.
Volunteer training sessions are held one a week for eight weeks beginning Wednesday, September 8 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the Lakeview View Senior Center
