Mission Statement The City of Irvine is dedicated to creating and promoting an awareness of our natural community, while encouraging behaviors that will ensure the preservation of our open space wilderness for generations to come. By engaging members of the community in positive outdoor recreational and educational experiences, we will manage and maintain Irvine’s open space preserve as a welcoming and valued part of our City.
There are countless ways to connect with nature and enjoy outdoor adventures without traveling far, including hiking, mountain biking, equestrian programs and naturalist-led tours. | The City has many parks and facilities that offer opportunities for participation in our nature trails. (List facilities) Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp and Trailhead Turtle Rock Community Park and Nature Center Quail Hill Community Park and Trailhead | | The Irvine Ranch Conservancy offers a variety of free, family-friendly activities tailored to meet the needs of all nature lovers. There is no better time to experience the great outdoors than today, click here for a schedule of upcoming hiking, biking and other fun activities. | | Self Guided activities on the many trail systems throughout the City. | | Schedule a group tour (open space permits) | | WILDERNESS ACCESS DAYS HIKE & BIKE AT BOMMER CANYON DATES, click here for a map: Enjoy self-guided access in Irvine's Open Space Preserve-South. Designated trails will be open for self-guided hiking and biking (temporarily reinstated). Participants MUST check in and register at the Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp prior to accessing the Irvine trail system. Upon registration, participants are given a day use pass that must be carried, and be visible, at all times while in the Preserve. Trail users are allowed to enter the preserve trails up to one hour prior to closing time and no later. Park closes at 3 p.m. Self-guided, ages 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, distance and level of difficulty dependent on trail. Pre-registration is available on the website. On-site registration is also available the day of the event. All mountain bicyclists must wear a helmet at all times while on Irvine Open Space trails. | |
