| Open Studio
The Irvine Fine Arts Center offers a rental studio in letterpress printing for artists interested in presswork that explores relief, type-set, and sign press printing. The studio includes a Vandercook 4 proof press, Kelsey tabletop letterpress, a sign press, and a tabletop etching press. The studio also provides patrons with fonts, a dry rack for storing prints, inks, and all other supplies necessary for printing. All patrons interested in renting the studio are required to provide their own paper and any relief materials needed for printing. Those individuals unfamiliar with letterpress printing but who are interested in learning more about the process are encouraged to take a beginning letterpress class. Classes are offered on a quarterly basis.
Public use of the printmaking studio is offered at a modest rate.
Current fees for the studio are:
$15/ hour (2-hr. min.) $13 (resident)
$50/ 5 hours $45 (resident)

*Press use is not included with this Open Studio pass.
Users must qualify by first participating in a free orientation with the lead technician to determine knowledge in regards to operation of equipment. To set up an appointment please call 949.724.6885.
For current schedules and reservations, please call the Fine Arts Center. Schedules will vary from week to week based on studio availability. Reservations are required for press time, while type-setting is based on the availability of the studio. No access is permitted while other classes are in session.
