The Irvine Fine Arts Center staff is proud of our comprehensive photography lab. Professional and amateur photographers from all over Orange County come to use the facility to process and print their fine art photography. A variety of classes are offered in darkroom processes, as well as workshops in special techniques. Processing and printing skills are basic and integral to the production of fine art quality images. Many artists are combining their darkroom skills with digital media to produce amazing results.

If you have already learned to use a darkroom, but it has been long ago, why not sign up for our Darkroom Refresher workshop and brush up on your darkroom knowledge. This one-evening class covers processing black-and-white film, making contact sheets, enlargements, dry-mounting, dodging, burning and the use of contrast filters, and more. Prior darkroom experience required. Recommended for Open Studio use. After you complete this class, you can also qualify to use the IFAC darkroom during Open Studio times. This class is for ages 18 and older. Register for this class at http://irvinequickreg.org.
