REQUEST  The applicant is requesting approval of a Master Conditional Use Permit application to create a new high-speed wireless internet service network throughout the City of Irvine.  With this proposed network, Clear Wireless LLC (“Clearwire”) – an affiliate of Sprint/Nextel Corporation – will provide a 4G mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) internet wireless network designed to deliver next-generation broadband access.  The project includes of a total of 28 sites located within the City of Irvine, to be designed and built in two phases.  The typical Clearwire site will consist of the replacement or addition of 3 antenna panels with 3 new Clearwire antenna panels, the addition of 3 microwave dishes , and the addition of a new equipment cabinet in the existing equipment areas and new GPS antenna.  These sites will be mounted on non-residential buildings, SCE transmission towers, and existing monopoles.
